450,000 Liberians rely on the Phebe Hospital for life-saving medical care. Phebe Hospital is currently powered by diesel generators, and faces the day-to-day challenge of blackouts due to equipment failure and/or fuel disruption. There is one natural solution to this problem – SOLAR POWER. RREAL has already begun preliminary phases of constructing a solar micro-grid for Phebe Hospital, but additional funds are needed now.
Churchwide ELCA and Churchwide Women of the ELCA have endorsed the Phebe Hospital Mission. Congregations in the ELCA are challenged to give $100 to match a National Geographic Challenge Grant and provide hope for Phebe’s future through solar energy.
This Christmas, as we celebrate the LIGHT of CHRIST coming into the world, we invite your church to join the challenge to give a $100 Congregational Gift to SOLAR POWER FOR PHEBE in response to the National Geographic Matching Grant. It’s a gift that will light Phebe Hospital for generations to come – time is limited, please accept this challenge today! Challenges will be accepted electronically (church or personal credit cards are accepted). Go to RREAL’s homepage (www.rreal.org) and click Phebe 100 DONATE at the boom right of the page; or go to https://my.rreal.org/Phebe100 to accept the Phebe $100 Christmas Challenge.

The MN Legislature passed changes to MN Statute 157, effective August, 2011. These changes affect faith-based organizations. Each church should be familiar with the new changes as it relates to your church kitchen. To download and print a summary of the new requirements, click here.
